chanced upon the word Fläche. Discovering that this term signifies fabric granted me an entirely new perception of the plane. In that instant, Fläche ceased to be a mere geometric plane; it became a spatial state composed of intertwined elements. It was then that I first conceived a project to interpret this word spatially. This work, Fläche als räumliches Ereignis, explores the spatiality inherent in the plane. I began by researching the work of other artists who had explored the concept of the plane, and conducted experiments specifically to understand the structural logic of the digital plane, the screen. Through this process, I began to perceive patterns not merely as visual repetitions but as the structural organisation of spatial information within the plane, discovering that space and plane were so intertwined they became indistinguishable. In subsequent research, these spatial patterns began to manifest concretely within the planar structure, appearing as the planar structure itself, imbued with spatial information. Various hybrid patterns were created by associating the grain of natural timber, bearing environmental and biological information, with digitally generated structures within a virtual environment. These patterns evolved into spatial installations placed on the floor, guiding viewers to walk over them and physically and visually interact with crystal spheres placed upon the surface. The aim was to extend the act of viewing a plane into an experience of spatial interaction. The working method was simple and repetitive. Overlay, print, cut, overlay. Through this physical process of construction and deconstruction, the plane came to be understood not as a fixed surface, but as a state continuously formed through entanglement.&nbsp; 바위 인가요?” 하고 물었더니 “아니요, 바위 표면의 물이 얼어 푸른빛을 띠네요.” 2. 이번 전시 이이일러엉[i.i.il.lʌ.ʌŋ]은 무언가의 움직임이나 내 시각의 흔들림을 나타내는 의태어이다. 그리고 이 연결되는 어떤 상태는 다시 다섯 개의 음절로 나뉜다. 연속된 듯한 움직임 속에 분절된 상태가 있다. 난 이 분절된 상태를 공간으로 풀어보고 싶었다. 3. 돌은 흔히 단단한 상태로 쉽게 변하지 않는 물질로 인식되지만, 현무암은 흐르던 용암이 굳어 생성된 물질이다. 제주의 현무암은 이런 과정에서의 여러 상태를 잠재적으로 품고 있으며, 그것은 과거와 현재, 미래 중 ‘지금’이라는 하나의 상태가 잠시 형태를 이루고 있는 것처럼 보였다. 이 돌을 통해 단단함이 품고 있는 긴 시간 속의 미세한 흔들림과 순간성, 그 관계의 찰나를 전시로 풀어낼 수 있을까? 4. 지인이 보내온 사진의 바위는 순간 SF영화 속의 외계행성 같았다. 얼음의 레이어가 만들어낸 푸른빛은 바위가 마치 자신의 또 다른 물성을 드러내고자 하는 것 같았다. 이 겹침은 내게 매우 디지털적인 감각으로 읽혀졌다. 변화하는 물질이 하나의 프레임 안에 잠깐 멈추는 순간, 그 막이 주변과 전혀 다른 관계로 해석되는 순간, 돌의 존재는 고유의 시간성에서 벗어나 잠시 디지털적 사건으로 인식되는 건 아닐까? 5. 여기서 ‘디지털적’은 분절된 사건으로 이해해보고자 했다. 하나의 이미지 속에 숨겨진 수많은 레이어들이 분절된 조건으로 존재하는 상태, 또는 디지털 미세패턴을 이루고 있는 수없이 많은 짧은 선들이 떠올랐다. 6. 디지털 물성은 컴퓨터의 세계, 또는 스크린의 세계에 존재하는 물성이 아닐 수도 있다는 생각을 한 적이 있다. 이전 개인전에서 발견한 벽의 디지털 미세패턴은 내가 찾아낸 매화말발도리 꽃잎 사진의 디지털 미세패턴의 감각과 크게 다르지 않았다. 벽이 가지고 있는 하나의 잠재성으로 이 디지털 패턴이 존재하는 것이 아니라 디지털 패턴이 가지는 잠재성으로 수많은 자연의 상태가 존재하는 것일지도 모른다는 생각을 해 보았다. 7. 자연의 물성에서 느껴지는 잠재된 디지털 물성, 또는 디지털 물성이 드러내는 물리적 실체의 감각은 분리 가능한 것일까? 8. 공간에서 돌의 레이어와 배치만으로 디지털 물성에 대한 이야기를 풀 수 있을까? 디지털 이미지 하나 없이 디지털 머티리얼에 대한 이야기를 하는 것이 가능할까? 현무암의 표면을 하나의 3D 디지털 머티리얼로 변화시킨 후 Storage is an exhibition takes spatial installation that conveys the SeMA Storage, previously used as a reagent warehouse by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, into a momentary storage of fragmented information. Artist Shinae Kim approaches and handles the SeMA Storage as a venue that takes shape from a myriad of scattered information and attempts to install it in multiple layers. The SeMA Storage takes form as a structure with recorded vertical, horizontal, and stature information. The artist incorporates the information, transforming it to binary data and then into structures through this space, to disturb yet catch the viewers’ attention. The works installed in various directions are sometimes connected to the horizontal axis shelf, sometimes to the vertical axis, and interact with the light coming in from the ceiling or extend to the structure on the ceiling to create miscellaneous spatial scenes. In particular, the installation allows viewers to embrace a side of the structure in alignment with various viewpoints, thereby keeping them fully engaged. This venue enables viewers to approach the digital drawing, the shelf on which it is placed, and the space to experience the message conveyed by the artwork. In Romantic Storage, the sensual relationship built through the artwork and the space blending in together gives a new shape along the path where the viewers’ eyes come to rest or follow.supported by
